Willow Street Canal

Willow Street Canal

I drove up to Ithaca from Philadelphia with my family for a wedding in August of 1994. We stayed in a professor’s home on Willow Street. This painting captures a brief moment I witnessed in the morning right after a light rain. The girl looking across the canal was lost in thought. The canal—although not visible—was apparent from lush vegetation and atmosphere’s shift to softer tones.
